College for America is a competency-based degree program, directly applicable in the workplace, and designed to accommodate the busy lives of working adults. College for America students can earn an associate or bachelor's degree, online and at their own pace, from Southern New Hampshire University, a fully accredited, nonprofit university based in New Hampshire.

"We are proud to be working with the U.S. Office of Personnel Management to offer low-cost, competency-based degree programs to all Federal employees and their families for the first time," said Paul LeBlanc, SNHU president. "This alliance will open the doors to higher education for thousands of Federal workers and their families, and will allow them to develop skills that are immediately applicable in the workplace."

Through the alliance, Federal employees and their families will have the opportunity to pursue an associate or bachelor's degree at their own self-directed pace in subjects including healthcare management, communications, and general studies.
