Is SNHU accredited in Alabama?
Southern New Hampshire University is accredited by the regional accreditor the New England Commission of Higher Education (NECHE), which is one of the regional accrediting bodies recognized within the United States by the U.S. Department of Education. This means, as an SNHU student — no matter what state you live in — you’ll be earning a degree from a respected university that is recognized nationwide for meeting accreditation standards.
It’s important to note that institutions are not accredited by state. However, regional accreditation, from accreditors such as NECHE, is widely recognized across the United States.
SNHU also carries specialized accreditations for particular programs.
Are online degrees taken seriously?
As long as you attend an accredited institution, an online degree program can provide the same quality of education as an in-person program. As the popularity of online degrees has grown, many employers have also come to recognize the value of online education.
How fast can you earn a bachelor's degree online?
It depends. Online bachelor’s degree programs are typically designed to be completed in about 4 years. But there are many factors that can impact how quickly you can earn your diploma.
If you’ve already earned an associate degree or completed some prior college coursework, for example, you may be able to transfer those courses toward your bachelor’s degree. Some programs also provide college credit for specific professional experience and industry certifications. You may even be able to demonstrate your knowledge in certain general education areas by taking an exam that your college could accept for credit.
To learn more about transfer credits and how to earn a bachelor's degree faster, contact SNHU today.
Is it harder to get a job with an online degree?
Many jobs require a higher education degree. Employers typically want to know that your degree came from a high-quality, accredited institution. By going through the accreditation process, schools can assure students – and their future employers – that programs meet quality standards.
Do online degrees say online on the diploma?
No, they don’t. When you complete an online program from SNHU, your degree carries the same weight and value as our on-campus programs. No matter how you earn your degree, your diploma will include your name, the date you received it and the degree program you completed. It will not indicate whether you did this online or on campus.
Additionally, our online students have the opportunity to attend SNHU’s graduation ceremony. So even if you’ve only attended classes online, you can visit our New Hampshire campus and get your diploma in person.
