Dr. Matthew Glowiak, Clinical Faculty - Illinois

Frequently Asked Questions
Does Illinois allow online school?
Yes. Online college degrees are allowed across the country – and SNHU, an accredited, private, nonprofit university, has been a leader in online education for more than 25 years. With over 200 flexible online degree programs to choose from, SNHU offers a number of affordable pathways to help prepare you for success.
Can you get a degree online in Illinois?
Yes, you can. In fact, more than 8,500 Illinois residents are current SNHU students or alumni, earning degrees in business, social sciences and more.
Is SNHU accredited in Illinois?
Southern New Hampshire University is accredited by the regional accreditor the New England Commission of Higher Education (NECHE), which is one of the regional accrediting bodies recognized within the United States by the U.S. Department of Education. This means, as an SNHU student — no matter what state you live in — you’ll be earning a degree from a respected university that is recognized nationwide for meeting accreditation standards.
It’s important to note that institutions are not accredited by state. However, regional accreditation, from accreditors such as NECHE, is widely recognized across the United States.
SNHU also carries specialized accreditations for particular programs.
Are online schools worth it?
A college degree – online or otherwise – can be worth it if you're looking to position yourself for the next step of your career. You'll learn foundational knowledge and real-world skills you can use to succeed outside the classroom.
What is the fastest degree to get online?
While bachelor's degrees are generally 4-year programs and master's degrees 2-years, how fast you get an online degree depends on several factors. For one, you can go to school part-time (one course per term) or full-time (two courses per term.)
Plus, if you already have some college credit, you can shorten your program (and save money) by transferring them to SNHU. SNHU accepts up to 90 credits toward a bachelor's degree program – leaving only 30 more for you to earn – and up to 45 credits toward an associate degree.
You can learn more about how many credits you can transfer by speaking to an admission counselor and getting a free transfer credit evaluation.
Are online degrees taken seriously?
While we can't speak for all employers, it’s worth noting that a degree from an accredited institution like SNHU - whether earned online or in person - meets rigorous quality standards.
