What SNHU Students Are Saying
"My professors really cared about me and my success. There have been resources that have been given to me by my professors, and I definitely know what to do next after I leave."

Is SNHU accredited in Maryland?
Southern New Hampshire University is accredited by the regional accreditor the New England Commission of Higher Education (NECHE), which is one of the regional accrediting bodies recognized within the United States by the U.S. Department of Education. This means, as an SNHU student — no matter what state you live in — you’ll be earning a degree from a respected university that is recognized nationwide for meeting accreditation standards.
It’s important to note that institutions are not accredited by state. However, regional accreditation, from accreditors such as NECHE, is widely recognized across the United States.
SNHU also carries specialized accreditations for particular programs.
Is it worth doing online college?
We think so! Learning online is every bit as rigorous as learning in a traditional classroom. That’s because online learning requires a high level of independence and time management to be successful.
The benefits of online education include flexibility and connections with your faculty. SNHU’s online faculty are committed to helping each learner be their best in reaching their goals.
Is online college taken seriously?
As long as it's an accredited institution, an online college degree should absolutely be taken seriously.
Just like a traditional on-campus degree, your education is really what you make of it. Showcasing your employability isn’t just about the piece of paper you earned, but about the knowledge and experiences you gained while in your program of study.
Is online college faster than in-person?
It can be. Several factors can make online learning a faster option than college in-person, including:
- The number of classes you can take each term
- Number of term starts per year
- Length of each term
- The degree level you want to pursue (i.e., associate, bachelor's, master's, etc.)
- The option to pursue accelerated pathways
If you want to establish a timeline that's unique to you and your goals, our admission team is ready to help you choose a program and answer any questions you have to help you get started. Once enrolled, you will have an academic advisor dedicated to helping you reach your goals.
You’ll have support every step of the way to choose courses, adjust pacing if you need it, and help you earn your degree at the pace that works best for you. Some people find that given our 8-week undergraduate and 10-week graduate rolling course schedule, they are able to complete courses faster than they might in a traditional program.
How fast can I complete online college?
That depends entirely on you! Your degree program, career goals and preference for pacing will dictate your speed. With multiple term starts per year, you can start earning college credit without having to wait for a traditional semester start.
SNHU also has a generous transfer credit policy and will accept up to 90 credits towards a bachelor's degree – that's 3/4 of the credits you need – as well as some military and alternative credits and exams like College-Level Examination Preparations (CLEP) exams.
And, some of our programs have accelerated options, where you can take up to 4 graduate-level courses at the undergraduate tuition rate while earning your bachelor’s degree. That can help you reach your goals quickly and affordably.
