Frequently Asked Questions
Can you get a degree online in Nebraska?
Yes, you can. When you enroll in an online degree program, you can take courses and complete your assignments from anywhere in the world – including Nebraska.
SNHU has provided flexible, affordable online education for more than two decades. We offer more than 200 degrees online, so you can find the program that’s right for you and your goals.
Is SNHU accredited in Nebraska?
Southern New Hampshire University is accredited by the regional accreditor the New England Commission of Higher Education (NECHE), which is one of the regional accrediting bodies recognized within the United States by the U.S. Department of Education. This means, as an SNHU student — no matter what state you live in — you’ll be earning a degree from a respected university that is recognized nationwide for meeting accreditation standards.
It’s important to note that institutions are not accredited by state. However, regional accreditation, from accreditors such as NECHE, is widely recognized across the United States.
SNHU also carries specialized accreditations for particular programs.
Are any online degrees respected?
Yes, they are. As online degree programs have grown in popularity, employers across many industries have come to see the value they provide. SNHU is committed to creating online courses aligned with workforce standards, collaborating with industry partners to ensure you graduate with the knowledge, skills and hands-on experience employers are looking for.
Are any online degrees worth it?
Like any educational credential, the value of an online degree depends on your program and how it aligns with your career goals. The key is finding an online degree program from an accredited university that can give you the career-focused skills you need to succeed in your chosen field.
SNHU creates courses with the help of partners in the industry. We also hire faculty with real-world experience in the subjects they teach, ensuring you get the best support on your learning journey.
Do employers look down on online degrees?
While we can't speak for all employers, it’s worth noting that a degree from an accredited institution – whether earned online or in person – meets rigorous quality standards.
However, employers do typically want to know that your degree came from a high-quality, accredited institution. By going through the accreditation process, schools can assure students - and their future employers - that programs meet quality standards.
SNHU is accredited by the regional accreditor New England Commission of Higher Education.
Is it cheaper to get an online degree?
It can be, but it depends on your institution and program. At SNHU, for example, online tuition is $330/credit for undergraduate degrees – which is among the lowest tuition rates in the nation.
There are also many ways to save money on an online degree. You may be able to transfer prior college credit to a new degree program, for example. At SNHU, we can accept up to 90 transfer credits toward a bachelor’s degree. Since almost all of our bachelor’s degrees require 120 credits, transfer credits could save you 75% off the cost of tuition.
Some programs may also offer credits for professional experience or provide opportunities to test out of some courses. Talk to your admission counselor to learn more about the ways you can save time and money getting an online degree in Nebraska.
