“I work to make connections with students because I like them and want them to be successful. I make myself as approachable as possible, and do not get caught up in titles.”
Frequently Asked Questions
Can you get a degree online in Vermont?
You absolutely can. In fact, you could join the more than 3,500 individuals across the state of Vermont who are either studying or have earned their online degree through SNHU.
The great thing about earning your degree online is the flexibility, which helps you mold your class schedules around other responsibilities such as work and family. And with more than 200 degree programs available online through SNHU, you’ll be able to find the degree that fits perfectly with your experience and future goals.
Is SNHU accredited in Vermont?
Southern New Hampshire University is accredited by the regional accreditor the New England Commission of Higher Education (NECHE), which is one of the regional accrediting bodies recognized within the United States by the U.S. Department of Education. This means, as an SNHU student — no matter what state you live in — you’ll be earning a degree from a respected university that is recognized nationwide for meeting accreditation standards.
It’s important to note that institutions are not accredited by state. However, regional accreditation, from accreditors such as NECHE, is widely recognized across the United States.
SNHU also carries specialized accreditations for particular programs.
Is it possible to do college completely online?
Of course – in fact, at SNHU, we offer many programs that can be completed entirely online. We understand the day-to-day responsibilities and obligations that our online students are facing, which is why we’re committed to providing the highest quality online education possible. It's our way to help empower you to achieve your academic goals – no matter where you are.
How quickly could I finish online college?
There are a number of things that will impact how long it takes to complete your online degree. First, there’s the type of degree program you’re interested in. Programs at the associate degree level typically take up to 2 years to complete, while bachelor’s degree programs traditionally take 4 years.
Graduate degree programs, such as at the master’s level, normally take 1 to 2 years to complete on a full-time basis. And SNHU’s certificate programs can usually be completed in less than 1 year.
But several factors influence your actual timeline. You can attend part-time by taking 1 course per term, or full-time by taking 2 courses per term. Then there are transfer credits. If you've earned college credit but don't have a degree, those credits might count toward an SNHU program. We accept up to 90 credits toward a bachelor's degree and 45 toward a master's degree. Plus we'll complete a free transfer evaluation to determine which of your credits qualify.
Is online college harder than regular college?
Everyone is different when it comes to what they find more or less challenging in terms of the college experience. What we can say is that the curriculum and material you cover in your online degree program is similar to what you would learn if you were attending in person. But there are differences between online learning and attending college in person.
Unlike learning on campus, most of your online courses are asynchronous, which means there’s no set time for your classes. With discussion boards and assignments due the same days each week, you'll have the flexibility to plan and complete your work when it's convenient for you.
How long are online classes a day?
One of the best things about earning your degree online is that you don’t attend class at a set time, or for a set length of time. Your courses are broken into week-long modules, and you’ll have assignment due dates communicated to you at the beginning of each week. From there, you complete the work when it works best for you, whether it’s getting everything done at once or spreading the work out over the course of the entire week, completing a little each day.
And even though your program will be delivered online, you’ll still have regular communication with your instructors and fellow students through Brightspace, our learning management system.
