Meet Some Fellow SNHU Washington Residents
SNHU visited Washington in 2021 as part of its partnership with Operation Homefront. Together, the two organizations awarded Washington resident and military spouse Tevera Holcomb Hesslink a full-tuition scholarship, who planned to use it to finish her bachelor's in sport management and then earn a master's in special education.
"For me, it's about helping other, but also inspiring them to live their best life, and there is no better way than to strive to do so yourself," Holcomb Hesslink said.

Can you get a degree online in Washington?
Not only can you get an online degree in Washington, more than 6,000 Evergreen State residents are already current students or graduates. Many of them studied business administration, psychology or computer science – but SNHU has more than 200 online programs to choose from.
We've also been offering degrees online for nearly 25 years and we've spent that time to make sure the experience is designed for a wide range of learners, including working adults managing full-time jobs, families and everything else life throws at them.
Is SNHU accredited in Washington?
Southern New Hampshire University is accredited by the regional accreditor the New England Commission of Higher Education (NECHE), which is one of the regional accrediting bodies recognized within the United States by the U.S. Department of Education. This means, as an SNHU student — no matter what state you live in — you’ll be earning a degree from a respected university that is recognized nationwide for meeting accreditation standards.
It’s important to note that institutions are not accredited by state. However, regional accreditation, from accreditors such as NECHE, is widely recognized across the United States.
SNHU also carries specialized accreditations for particular programs.
What is the best online degree to get?
The best online degree to get is the one that gets you closer to your goals, whether those are personal or professional. Some SNHU students choose a program like business administration or computer science to learn specific skills they can leverage on the job to help advance their careers.
For others, earning a college degree has always been a personal dream. Some may have passions, like creative writing or photography that have nothing to do with their career but they want to explore further.
Ultimately, the best degree depends on you and what you hope to achieve.
Are online colleges worth it?
By taking courses at an accredited online college like SNHU, you will gain foundational knowledge from instructors with real-world experience in their industries. You'll also have the opportunity to connect with a network of thousands of students and alumni.
Practically speaking, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, college graduates on average earn more and have a lower unemployment rate than those without a degree.1 But everyone's specific circumstances are different and whether a degree is worth it to you depends on whether the skills and knowledge you gain get you closer to where you want to be.
Do people take online degrees seriously?
Not only are online degrees taken seriously, perceptions about online learning are shifting in a positive way. If you enroll with a reputable, accredited online school, you can earn a high-quality education.
Many employers recognize the convenience and effectiveness of online education. Institutions like SNHU have invested in high-quality online platforms, ensuring that the academic experience is on par with traditional methods.
