Obtain and Prepare Your Computer
Before the term starts, you’ll want to make sure you’ve got all the technology you need. SNHU students are required to have access to a laptop or computer with an up-to-date operating system and anti-virus software. If you don’t have a computer of your own, you can purchase one at a discounted rate through our laptop program partnership with Dell.
Visit the Laptop Program page for details.
Update Your Computer’s Operating System
Keeping your operating system (OS) up to date is important. In order to access the SNHU network, your computer must have the latest updates to your OS installed.
- For Windows computers: Visit the Windows/Microsoft Update website at windowsupdate.microsoft.com. There, you can scan your computer and download the latest updates.
- For Mac computers: The Software Update program from the Apple menu will provide the latest updates to all of Mac OS X and Apple software.

Step 2: Complete your Medical Record Requirements
The Wellness Center is licensed by the State of New Hampshire as an Educational Health Facility and is here to provide medical and mental health care for campus students.
As a way to provide the best care possible and ensure the health and safety of the campus community, all residential students, full time undergraduate campus students, international students, and full time graduate campus students taking classes on the Manchester campus must provide the following medical record requirements prior to the start of classes on campus.
For the Fall '24 semester, all requirements are due as soon as possible.
- A health history form (including consent for treatment while on campus)
- Accurate immunization records
- Tuberculosis screen and any needed tuberculosis test results
- Physical exam report (required for All Athletes within 6 months of term start, optional for all others)
To submit your Medical Requirements, complete the following steps:
- Click on Patient Portal/Medical Records
- Follow instructions to enter all required immunizations, complete required online forms and upload any needed corroborating documentation.
- If needed, all required forms can be accessed here.
Immunization Requirements:
All residential students, all full time undergraduate students, all international students and all full time graduate day students taking classes on the Manchester campus must provide complete and accurate immunization records. Students are required to provide proof of immunization against measles, mumps, rubella, tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis, hepatitis b, meningitis, ACWY, and varicella. When appropriate, titers demonstrating immunity will be accepted.

Step 3: New to SNHU
There are a few additional steps to take to prepare for the fall semester:
Be on the lookout for your Academic Advisor reaching out to you, introducing themselves, getting to know you, and working on schedules together! You may also see a New Student Inventory survey sent via email to help us obtain some important information. If you have any questions, we are always available by email at academicadvising@snhu.edu.
If you are choosing to live on campus, sign the Housing License Agreement to be placed into on-campus housing. To sign the Housing License Agreement, please follow these steps:
- Log-in using your MySNHU email and password to enter the Residence Life portal.
- Click on "Access MyHousing Director" from the top of the page.
- Click on "Applications and Housing Agreements" on the banner when you reach your MyHousing home page. A drop-down menu will appear, and you will select the “2024-2025 Housing License – Incoming Student Application” from the list.
- If you do not see the housing license, please e-mail housingquestions@snhu.edu for assistance
If you are planning to transfer AP exam scores or Dual Enrollment credits to SNHU, please follow the guidelines below:
- AP exam scores of 3 or higher may be eligible to transfer to SNHU for college credit. Students must request an official score report from the College Board in order to apply AP exam scores towards their SNHU degree. Score reports can be sent via the College Board website.
- Dual Enrollment credits (college level courses completed in high school) may also be transferred to SNHU. Students must request an official transcript from the college or university which awarded the course credits. Students should work with the Registrar’s Office at each school and follow the institution’s process for requesting official transcripts. Please note that if you have completed Dual Enrollment credits through SNHU, your courses are already part of your student record and a transcript does not need to be requested.
Official transcripts can be sent electronically or by mail using the addresses below:
Electronic delivery: cocedocs@snhu.edu
Mail delivery: Southern New Hampshire University, 2500 North River Road, Manchester NH 03106
Step 4: Financial Checklist
Our goal at student financial services is to make the financial aid process as easy as possible. We partner with students and supporters to identify, educate and offer the best financial resources available so that you can remain focused on your college experience.
Your financial aid offer is determined by the information you and your family provided on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). A financial aid offer may consist of:
- Scholarships or grants (do not need to be repaid)
- Federal student loans (must be repaid)
- Federal work-study (must be earned)
To accept an offered Federal Direct Student Loan, you will need to complete Entrance Loan Counseling and sign a Direct Loan Master Promissory Note, both of which can be done online at studentaid.gov. If you have not yet applied for Federal Financial Aid, please do so by visiting fafsa.gov. SNHU’s school code is 002580.
Upon reviewing your financial aid offer, you may decide to reduce or decline your federal student loans. Please complete a loan change request form to reduce or decline these loans.
To learn more about payment options, please contact our office. We can guide you on how to pay your bill and/or enroll in an interest free payment plan. Payment plans will be made available in your Student Account Center once your bill is finalized.
Please note: Bills will be available July 9, 2024 and payment for your full first semester tuition balance is due by August 9, 2024. You can view your bill in your Student Account Center via the my.snhu.edu portal.
Phone: 603.645.9640
Email: sfscampus@snhu.edu
Select Your Refund Preference Via BankMobile:
If you have a surplus in your financial aid, or from payments made to your student account, you may be due a refund. BankMobile is a resource for you to help secure your refund. You will receive allocation instructions by mail, in a green envelope.
Your options to receive the refund include:
- Deposit the funds into a current personal bank account
- Open a BankMobile VIBE Account and be issued a debit/credit card
Please note: Some Direct Parent PLUS Loans and credit card payments are not eligible for BankMobile refunds.
Complete Your Health Insurance Waiver
All SNHU students are required to have health insurance. You will be automatically enrolled in a plan through the university and will be billed annually for this charge. If you have private health insurance, you must complete a health insurance waiver form before August 9, 2024. The form can be obtained online through the my.SNHU student portal and must be completed annually. For questions, call 603.645.9640 or email sfscampus@snhu.edu.
Add Money to your Penmen Cash Account
Your Penmen Cash account allows students or their supporters to add funds to your SNHU ID card to pay for bookstore items, snacks, and other items. Visit the Get app to add funds to your Penmen Cash account.
Step 5: Final Steps
Just a few more items before you’re ready to start at SNHU!
Request a parking permit to have your car on campus. For more information and to get your parking permit visit the Permit Store.
Purchase books for your classes by visiting the university store. When you visit this site you’ll find the book list for all classes and will be able to purchase books directly from SNHU’s Barnes & Noble campus bookstore.
Your SNHU ID will get you into your Residence Hall if you’re a resident student, pay for your meals, allow you to print on campus, and much more. Your SNHU ID photo will be taken at Orientation. Student ID’s will be distributed at Opening Weekend in August.
